out of curiosity what kind of Elias/reader fics would you commission?

Elias x reader... The pinnacle of self-indulgence and my beloved. The short answer is "practically anything", while the slightly longer answer is "I guess fics similar to the existing ones I enjoy*".

The long answer is... I love fics with a power imbalance/where Elias shows control over the reader insert, whether SFW or not, because I'd never place myself in such a position in reality and it's cathartic to explore in fiction it's fun. I also enjoy fics where there's a sense of understated, almost parent-like (I know, I know; ask Sigmund Freud) affection from Elias. I'd say Hurt/Comfort is my favourite genre of reader fic. On the other hand, I greatly appreciate it when the reader is portrayed as sarcastic and there's plenty of bickering because it's fun and easier to see myself in.

...Of course, there are reader-insert fics in my writing folders right now, but if you follow me you've likely already seen me mention how bad I am at finishing tasks.

* My favourite fics right now are "Not Safe for Work" and blue_blue_electricblue's oeuvre.

(sorry for spamming ur asks, same person lajfksjdks) damn I've read all of their elias fics already. my favourite elias x readers are by Kasiarzyna on ao3 called Usual Order and Question Existing. she managed to make him so deliciously horrible yet respectful about it, then dissappeared off the face of the earth. alas, time to start writing something myself, i fear, cause the man wont let me live in peace

I enthusiastically encourage you to. I started writing a little self-indulgent something myself a while ago, but I'm just about the worst at finishing things, so the unfinished fic sits in my hard drive.

My guilty pleasure is reader-insert fanfiction, I confess, and there are quite a few good ones (my favourites are the ones by blue_blue_electricblue on AO3). To be flayed by contemplation...

they gave him so much autistic transgender swag and then completely squandered his potential in season 5. how were they allowed to do this. this happens to every character I like. I'm taking him away from the writers and treating him to. a nice meal

how do you feel about web!jon or web!elias? i think they're almost archetypical-Eye, but there's something about their need for control that I find intriguing. especially in conjunction with how often Elias uses his Knowing to manipulate others & the world around him, and how Jon's powers manifest in a lack of control on his victims' part (i.e being compelled, being unable to resist either a question or giving a statement, etc.)

Entity swaps fascinate me, although I rarely read fics about them because I have a mild brain block about things that are too canon-divergent. I rotated a couple of ideas about Jon rejecting the Eye and turning to the Web as an attempt to regain agency a while back, and I think it's the most compelling (pun retroactively intended) Web!Jon scenario to me.

Similarly, I once saw a post that said Elias is at the centre between the Web and the Slaughter, and I'm inclined to agree. But I also think the Eye uniquely fits him because it is, as others have said, the "meta" fear. Elias is clearly afraid of being afraid and uses fear as a tool for control. Plus, Web avatars don't seem to believe in their free will, while Elias uses his control over others to assert his own. So, as you said, the Eye is still the most fitting for him. Still, entity swaps are very interesting to explore, and there's also some merit in the concept of the Web feeding on residual fear from Elias's actions, as the Entities are not truly separate. Elias did once say that Melanie fears being trapped.

Do you have any specific ideas on this entity swap? :eyes:

Elias would probably wear eye-themed tie clips and cufflinks. Just a little thing for him and for the assistants to notice and hate as they become more aware of how they're trapped :)

"A tie clip, really?" Jon's voice is scathing, balancing on the edge of disbelief. The small accessory sits proud and damning, nestled in the silk of Elias's tie. It's a tasteful piece, really, at least to Jon's untrained eye, and he can't tell whether that makes this mocking gesture any better.

Elias flashes him a smile. "It's only appropriate to give a nod to our patrons, I think."

Jon snorts. "Somehow I doubt the entity of voyeuristic terror you've decided to hand your entire life to cares about what you wear."

"Mm, it's the inner parts that matter," Elias concedes. "Mine or yours, as it would turn out. Still, appearances are worth something, especially given the proclivities of our shared master."

Concept: Jonah Magnus as an avatar of the End. We’ve seen beings associated with the End being unable to die, and death was of course one of the things he feared most. Idk how that would actually work with the story though and it’d be a pretty different character without the all-knowing thing. I’m not explaining this well lol

It'd be a very different story, but it's an AU that's really interesting because there's a precedent for that kind of rationale in MAG 155, with the woman who didn't want to die and absorbed others' lives with their rage. There are many differences between them; for instance, they feel so much anger because it's not fair, while Jonah has long since abandoned ideas of fairness. But I think they work as foils precisely because of their differences.

I was wondering if you had any Elias headcanons you haven't shared before that you'd be willing to share now? You are one of the only people in this entire fandom whose opinions I actually enjoy, so I love hearing what you think

I genuinely don't know if I've talked about this here, but one of my biggest headcanons is that he was often sick as a child. And the wild thing is that at least three separate mutuals have mentioned having the same headcanon for very different reasons.

To me, the appeal is in the sweet spot of the impotence of childhood and the very real possibility of death. He's sick and there's something wrong with his body and the adults aren't telling him anything but he knows something is wrong... My big headcanon is that his father could've been a doctor and he snuck into his study to look at medical texts he didn't quite get but were enough to give him an idea of what they weren't telling him.

And the thing about childhood trauma is that the only thing you can really do when you have control issues is pretend it's not there. Because children are helpless, and you're not helpless, much less to something that's not even happening right now, right?

I AGREE WITH MY WHOLE HEART WITH MY SOUL EVERYTHING it;s so fucking weird of people to make Jonah take on a trans body as a punishment. it's conditional support and! even if they didn't intend it... mildly transphobic😟!!! It's like saying being trans is something bad, and for bad people.

I read a fic where Jonah was originally FtM, had been taking cis bodies, and then took Elias who was also FtM (in the middle of medically transitioning) And He Liked It. spectacular truly

It would be more his than any of the men he’s become over the last century.
He never shied away from vanity as Jonah; it seems a fitting enough habit to pick up again.

Transphobically making him trans as a joke because it'd be so demeaning feels very in line with homophobically making him gay for Peter as a joke because it'd be so demeaning. Queerness is not a cosmic punishment! It is not something the universe gives you to knock you down a peg!
